- My wedding anniversary is June 11, the day before our targeted launch date. This shouldn't present any trouble, but I'm keeping it in mind like a good husband, just in case.
- I want to plan for a day at the end of the trip to meet up with some local friends who I don't often get to see, some nice dinner & drinks, look at pictures and tell tall tales, and generally decompress before flying back to CO. And shower too. Maybe shower first.
- The time available to me to lose some of this excess weight is dwindling. Maybe I'll just relabel it "ballast", or "energy store". I'm looking to lose 18 lbs...so come on, guys, make with the encouragement.

Closer than you think
As I watch these days count down, a few things have occurred to me regarding timing:

What are your flight arrangements? Just trying to figure out when you get into town and when you are leaving so that I can get a sense as to exactly how many days we will be in the woods and what kinds of rations we will need. Joe and I can create a friendly, weight loss diet for you, or we can choose to not bring any food and "live off the land". We are sure to go hungry and possibly crazy if we choose this route...
ReplyDeleteI just found out my last day of work is June 5th, so I will have a full week to get everything together and to build a pool deck before our departure. I will try my best to lay off the booze to prevent any hammer related injuries, but no promises.
ReplyDeleteMy wife has an unnatural talent for finding good airfares, so she's on that mission. I gave her the June 12-19 window, but she may flex that if the fares dictate -- hopefully you both can work with that?
ReplyDeleteAre the trout edible there?
umm double post?
DeleteDefinitely can work with some flex. It's early enough that I think we can move the date forward or back around that time a bit for whatever flights work for you. I don't remember ever seeing the trouts in that lake. I have seen giant carp in that lake, and they look like they've been eating raccoons off the shore, or maybe just each others poop off the bottom of the reservoir.
I encourage you to either lose weight or not care. This is a stress free trip, and the only reason you'd want to lose weight is so you don't have to lug 18 more pounds up some steep ass cliff we decide to climb up because the view might be better from " up there ". You got hiker in your jeans, you'll be fine.
oh, and we never go hungry in the woods. We will bring more food than we need, it's kind of how it seems to happen mostly. We'll try to pack right, then all of a sudden it's steak and eggs veggie pile. This time it might be reconstituted dried steak, but it will still be steak. When I say " we " I mean Jeff, he's the king of camp cooks, never had better trail food.
